Funny how when you have some topic in your mind, you run across related stuff.
Check out the photo… Reminds of Ronald Reagan’s classic line regarding the nine most terrifying words in the English language…
“I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
I was from the government as a public school teacher, social worker for human services, health, and nursing homes, and as a regional university professor. I did help. I believe “the check is in the mail” leaves me more cynical. Nobody says “I’ll respect you in the morning” to women my age.
You make a good point. I will refrain from cheap shots at individuals! My actual problem is with an overgrown “system” that has evolved into a three-headed monster.
This posting reminded me of a stupid decision by the local government in my town. The main streets in town were two lanes in each direction with parking on both sides of the street and few traffic congestion issues. The local politicians decided we needed to make the town more “bike friendly” so they changed these streets to single lane in each direction and created bike lanes. Now we have extreme congestion driving thru town but I have never seen anyone use the bike lanes. I have long observed when the government tries to solve a problem they create other problems that are much worse.
